Code help/ Sensor Problem

Do you have a 2.2L or 2.4L engine?

To diagnose that code you will need a scan tool that can read the secondary air pump live data like the air pressure sensor and baro voltage.Do you have one of those?

No I don't have one of those unfortunately. Do you think it's a problem that if left unchecked will deteriorate or cause other issues? Again, the mechanic I've had check it out has said that in his opinion the cost of trying to fix it might far outweigh the consequences of not fixing it. I just get nervous when I'm driving it and the check engine light is always on.

It wont cause more damage or further repair later but with having the light on all the time if your car develops a more serous problem that will cause damage to your car you wont know it because the light will always be on masking the new problem.Something to think about there.

Yes, that's a good point and I've thought about that too. The car has within the last couple of months started lurching forward when idling (such as at a stoplight or stop sign) and will do it in any gear. Again, I am no car person but it seems to me that if the air pump does not have optimal pressure then the engine might be almost dying for lack of circulating air/oxygen for the correct firing in the pistons. This is purely speculation but I guess my question is since the mechanics I've taken this to seem reluctant to do anything for fear of harming the car should I just get some electric tape or something and try to "seal" any leak I can find? Just a thought. Thanks for all your responses so far.

The reason the shops you have taken it to have been so reluctant to fix or look at it is because it takes a expnsive scan tool that a lot of shops just dont have.Also a lot of shops dont have expernice fixing secondary air systems so they will tend to turn away problems they dont have the expensive tools or training or expernice to fix.As far taping stuff up i wouldnt even try that.you could have a vacuum leak.bad sensor wire issue i have seen bad computers cause emission codes.If that code is related to your other problem without getting into it i wouldnt know for sure.I would just take it to the dealer and see what they find.
