I have a Opel Corsa 1.4i Sport from 2007. I bought it new. The car has a heavy petrol smell and technicians cannot find any leaks. The smell is heavier when the aircon is on. The petrol consumption in my opinion is higher. Do you have any advice. Is this an aircon or fuel system problem. Nobody seems to have any idea.

If you smell fuel there is a leak. Use a flashlight to look for stains of where the gas might have been such as the fuel tank sides, the fuel line and the injectors which should be checked while the engine is running. Here is a guide to help you see what to do when replacing a leaky fuel injector.

Please let us know what you find.

When I start my vehicle (any time of day and when it is cold or hot) it releases grey smoke from the exhaust and it smells of fuel and struggles to idle, but if I push the accelerator for a few seconds the smoke stops and it starts to idle normal. It is using a lot of fuel, but no water, I have to top off the oil every now and then. I have replaced all of the sensors on the vehicle and I installed new valves and stem seals, new rockers, new timing belt kit, new plugs, new coil pack, changed filters, but no change. I also experience that sometimes the engine stalls and struggles to start. I would really appreciate it if someone can assist me, it is starting to become expensive and I do love the car and would like not to have to sell it

Hi MAURITZ84,

This sounds like a classic fuel injector that is going bad, you will need to remove each one and do a flow and performance test, please follow this guide to help you and get back to us.

Hi. In driving my car i get a strong petrol smell all the time. I also experience slight jerking. The vehicle has been serviced recently and in doing so there was a strong petrol deposit on the spark plugs. Help please.

Check your fuel pump O-ring (Rubber ring) if it is not there then fix your fuel pump with O-ring as it will fill the small gaps of your fuel pump. Petrol smell will be coming from gaps of fuel pump. And also check fuel pipes beside injectors.
