The cruise control will not turn on. When the problem first started you could only turn the cruise on (not set, but turn on), when turn the steering wheel 90 degrees or more to the left. Since then it will not turn on at all. I've replaced the brake switch with no change. I believe it's the clock spring, but would like to be certain before tearing apart and spending the money to buy a clock spring.

Thanks Ken. You're probably going to like to hear this, but we took the Xterra to go get.dinner this evening and it popped a P1564 code when pulling out of the driveway. I can get the DTC light to go off, but my scanner still says there's a code stored (I'm assuming it's assuming bad enough issue it won't completely clear). I have a question regarding the new clock spring. I've seen for this vehicle, the entire multiswitch assembly for a replacement as well as just the click spring by itself. Question I have is without having the old one removed, do you know if the old clock spring is removable from the rest of the switch assembly? Even Nissan OEM pictures show both for this exact same vehicle, and obviously just the clock spring alone is much cheaper. Thanks again Ken. Jim

The best thing to do is call the parts department at the dealer to ask if they sell it separately. I'm not sure, please let me know.
