It has an oil leak near the oil pan. Is the work on this extensive or expensive? I personally think its the gasket, but if its not expensive i would take it to a pro.

I am at college at the moment and do not have a picture. I drove the vehicle for 3 hours tom get home from the place I bought it the it was originally like a quarter sized drip the day I bought it and I parked it in the garage this weekend to come to find about a 1ft round puddle directly under the oil pan. If the work doesn't involve removing the tranny and what not my father and I can most likely do it I just don't know enough about the vehicle to dive in. Apparently I should of known more about the slimy salesman too.

hopefuly it is not a rear main seal leak! you need to actually locate it. leaks can run down from higher places too.

The oil pressure switch is prone to leaks and if that is the case, that would be the cheapest fix. Apart from that, most other repairs are not going to be cheap.

The leak appears to be coming from where the engine and transmission meet and its a fairly decent leak. I have looked around and there are no other oil leaks except from here, also is the little opening on the housing supposed to be there? Only asking because judging by the edges it appears a piece has broken off.

is it engine oil or transmission? if it is engine it may be a rear main seal which means the transmission has to come out to repair it or there may be an oil sender on top of block leaking and coming down.

Its definitely engine oil. If it is any help the drop of oil you can see in the photo I did watch it seep out between the housing and the thin metal plate that comes right after it.

as I said in first reply check for oil leaks on tops dripping down then check the rear main seal which will require pulling transmission to fix.
