how to i change the serpentine belt

1. Using a wrench, rotate accessory drive belt tensioner (8) counterclockwise until accessory drive belt (2) can be removed from pulleys (5 and 9).

2. Remove accessory drive belt (2).
Make sure to clean all groves on pulleys after belt removal

Not sure I understand the question. Can you see the belt? If so, there is a belt tensioner that holds the belt on.

I can only see part of the belt from top do a have to take all the plastic parts from underneath the car and access it from underneath

only pays .8 so i doubt anything has to be removed. just tight to get to.

For a 2007 Jeep Patriot 2.0 Eng. Forward wheel drive. I unbolted the degassing bottle (coolant reservoir) and moved it aside without disconnecting the coolant line. Its very tight , but with a good tensioner tool/16 mm wrench you can access the tensioner pulley and remove the old belt. It was a bear to first route the new belt and then to get enough leverage (with the wrench) to install a new belt.
I needed a 2nd person to help position the new belt over the last pulley while I struggled with my wrench on the tensioner to be able to get enough slack to finish installing it. If your use to that stuff it shouldn't be a problem just tedious.
