I have a Grand Cherokee Overland 2007(Gulf Specification). It has 5.7 hemi engine that was damaged and I found a used Engine for Dodge Magnum 5.7 liter hemi. There is no history available for the engine but I have the serial number for the engine. I like to know that if this Dodge Mangnum engine would fit my grand cherokee. Is it possible to check the Engine history such as mileage using the cereal number? Thanks, Atiq Bajwa

I don't know how you are expecting to operate this engine in that vehicle since there has never been an operating system made for that application.

I take that back. It appears the Hemi was used in 2007 Jeep. You will only be able to check the history of the vehicle it originally came with through CarFax.

Thanks for prompt reply. The engine I found here is 5.7 Hemi but it is for Dodge Magnum. My question is that would it fit in the Grand Cherokee?

I can't answer that for sure. I would say to compare the 8th digit of the VIN#s of the 2 vehicles. If they don't match, then I would say no, it would not fit. If they match, then it would take further inquiries to find out if they would interchange.

The problem is that I have no information about the engine where it came from and which vehicle it was. I just have the serial number of the engine and VIN of my own car. The mechanic here is telling me that it would work but I wanted to check it before I let them take the old engine out. Any other ideas on checking if both 5.7 Hemi engines for Dodge Magnum and Jeep Grand Cherokee are 100% identical? Thanks

Those are not details that I would expect anyone here to have. You can find out at either the dealer or many junkyards have an interchange book that may help.

Histories are recorded to vehicles and not engine numbers so the dealer is the only one that would be able to connect the two.
