the mass airflow sensor is self cleaning no need for that, but if you must it is between air filter and throttle body. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

i know it sounds a bit dumb. My problem is that the previous owner cut and spiced a lot of wires on o2 sensors and wiring harness around injectors and throttle body. the book i have says it's suppose to have one also, other sites online. but i can't find part in any auto parts store for it. if i search for it under 2006 i can find after market but not for 2007, any help would be great thanks.

Good evening,

The simple answer is no. They use a MAP or manifold absolute pressure sensor instead.

What is your concern that makes you ask this question?

The system do not use any MAF. A MAP is used and usually erratic idling is caused by the ISC (IAC) and throttle plate being dirty. You should have them cleaned first.

Item #3 in diagram is the ISC.

No, do not attempt to clean the MAP sensor, it is a sensitive component and can be damaged easily. It works on vacuum so would not get dirty.

You're welcome.

Usually cleaning it would be sufficient unless trouble codes are present.

Have a nice day.

Yeah-I had PO1505 code(open circuit, weak input I think that's what it was, but I know I had a code that indicated the IAC)-it seems OK now-Thanks again for your help

Hello, I'd appreciate some advice if anyone can help. I bought this car last week and it's been driving fine but the engine check light came on after a few days. I took it to a Hyundai dealer today and they diagnosed that it was the air flow sensor that needs replacing. At the same time I asked them to listen to the the aircon (which was sounding rough) and they advised it would be expensive to repair - as I'm not bothered about aircon they have just disconnected it for me (so I can use the window fans without it coming on automatically). I'm taking the car in to have the part replace next week. What's concerning me is that when I drove home today the car isn't driving fine anymore although the check light isn't on! It isn't accelerating properly and is really jumpy. Should I be worried about this? Is it just because they've had a dig around in the sensor and made it worse?
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Scanning for codes wont make it any worse, but the sensor could be failing all on its own. When the MAF starts having trouble it will make the car do alot of different things. If the code pertained to that, have it replaced and go from there

My 2000 Hyundai Accent is putting out smoke whenever I accelerate.
At first the smoke is white and then as I drive, it turns gray.

First, I want to know what might be causing the smoke.
Second, I want to know if I can fix it myself. I just spent about 300 on changing is mass air flow.

I got synthetic oil and gave it an oil change. That lessened the smoke but there's still some coming out.

Thank you!

Christina:
IT sounds like you have a bad head gasket. Coolant enters the combustion chamber and burns producing white smoke. Have you had to add coolant to the vehicle? Also, check the oil to make sure coolant isn't getting in there. Finally, one way to check it to perform a compression test. If you need directions, let me know.

Replace the MAF. Quite common for it to cause problems when it is not working correctly without throwing trouble codes indicating it is faulty. Someone had replaced 3 MAF to finally resolved the probem.
