2007 Holden Viva Grinding

I was driving perfectly car suddenly came to a halt and made grinding sound.
It turns on ok but not driving help!

Not a lot to go on, but it sounds like a transmission of final drive problem, if it is running and in gear get someone to look under the car and if the tail shaft is turning the final drive will be at fault , if no movement of the tail shaft the transmission has failed.
