Loss of power and smoking?

The van is smoking excessively and has a serious loss of power. The egr valve has been checked and is working fine. The air filter has been changed. There is n intermittent brake pad warning light on the dash.

The fact that you are saying the EGR is ok, tells me the smoke is most likely a black smoke from the exhaust. If this is the case that indicates excessive fuel in the engine. Here is a guide that will help with this:
