With the engine at full operating temp, locate the 2 heater hoses where they go into the firewall and feel them to see if they are both hot to the touch. If not too hot to hold, then you have to look at the actual engine temp and if that is up, if it is, then your looking at a restricted heater core or poor circulation for another reason.
If you find that they are both too hot to hold, then the heat in that vehicle is controlled by a blend door that regulates heated air flow. it is operated by an electric motor/actuator. The problem can be that the actuator is stripped or inoperative or the door itself could be damaged. This is what needs to be determined by examining the actuator and see if it is responding to heat change commands or not.

This guide will help us.

i have had problems with my heat for a while now the check engine light came on and i took it to autozone and had the code pulled, The code was for low coolant or bad temperature sensor i check the coolant was fine so i had the coolant temp sensor change out and it is still not working right. at low speed the temp sensor works fine but as soon as you get on the freeway it stops working and the heat goes out in the car. I have also changed the thermostat and cannot think of anything it could be. please help me if you can thanks

you could have a blocked heater core or even just partly blocked not enough to make it over heat. but before replaceing the heater core i would go get the cooling system flushed

When I turn my heater on low, it blows hot air, when I turn my heater on high it blows cold air. I already changed the termostat, and i took apart my dashboard and checked the control. I dont think its my heater core, because i have no leaks, and it does blow hot air on low. Does anyone know how to fix?

thanks

Does your car use electric actuators for the blend door? I have seen a Chevy do that due to a weak actuator motor and when on High, would actually push the blend door over to cool. Worth looking at. Does the engine run at correct temp?

Feel the upper radiator hose after the engine is warmed up. It should be too hot to hold onto for very long. If it is, feel the two heater hoses. If they're just warm, the heater core is plugged.

More commonly, if the radiator hose is just warm, suspect the thermostat.

there is never an easy fix, and when you say that you just curse the job and it makes it one billion times more complicated, so don't ever say that again!!. I will give you a few pointers, open up the hood and check all of your vacuum lines going into the firewall ( that means inside the car) they will be very small lines, make sure they are not broken or cracked, that dampener door that you are referring to is controlled by a vacuum, let me know what you find out, , and it is not going to be easy, making sure that your vacuum lines are in good condition.

Hi:
My concern is the car is overheating with all of the work you have done. That shouldn't be the case.

As far as the vent door, it's called a blender door. It should be located in the heater core box.
