Steering repair on a Dodge Caliber

That is actually the inner tie rod end. Unless things have changed, it is not available from the dealer. They want you to replace the entire rack assembly. You CAN buy the inners from the auto parts stores. Keep in mind that the connection between the inner and outer tie rods is the final alignment adjustment. If it isn't bent too badly that it will rub on the tire when turning and going up and down over bumps, you can leave it alone. Just have the car aligned. To get it close yourself, assuming the steering wheel was straight before the horrendous incident, loosen the locknut and adjust the link until the wheel is straight again. That will get total toe real close, but to prevent tire wear on both front tires, it still should be aligned.
