That is only pertinent when the dealer orders new pads from the manufacturer for a warranty repair. For regular maintenance even they go by application, not part numbers. In some cases, such as my Grand Caravan, the vehicle was available with heavy duty brakes. You will either know that from getting the wrong pads the first time or from matching the old ones to the new ones at the parts counter.
