Heat gun for removal & replace, it is put on with tape it's best if you are going to paint it to just tape the back door off and put paper around it so overspray doesn't go ondoor. otherwise you would never get the right type of tape to put backon molding and it would fall off after a little while.

I screwed up, it's held in by a few studs so you have to take the door panel off inside liftgate. disconnect he two license plate lights by turning a quarter turn counter clockwise, disconnect the door latch electrical and remove nuts. pic included.
