Is the battery good and fully charged? Have you checked main fuses under the hood? Does the dash light up?
Try the relearn procedure below

When I started the car today the radio would not turn on at all, but the car started so we disconnected the battery and reconnected and the key got stuck! The radio, lights, everything worked, but the windows and locks did not work and car would not turn over at all. I am not sure what to do or where to start.

The key was not on when you disconnected the battery and hooked it back up? Did you try to jump start it? Also, has the battery been charged and tested? Are the battery cables clean and tight?

My car will not start, I got a double jump last night and made it home but once I arrived there and turned my car off, that was it. I tried to restart it and nothing at all, all the lights and radio and everything are coming on but it like there is no juice. I also have an electrical issue with my high beam lights but I don't see that making my car not start, plus I am able to unplug the high beams therefore its not draining. My boyfriend works on cars and before I turned it off it was making an awful awful sound and it says it sounds like the inside of the alternator is tore up and needs to be replaced. I am just curious what it could be that is causing this issue?

The noise could be the alternator or a belt that is loose. Is it a screaching sound? Is the battery light staying on when the engine is running?

First, sorry for taking so long to get back with you. It's that time of the year. Anyway, the starter could check good even if it isn't. What needs to be done is the following:

When it doesn't start:

Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage to the smaller wire on the starter. You should have 12v when it is in the start position. If you do, replace the starter. If you don't, check the starter relay under the hood in the relay box (power distribution box.

Let me know what you find.

Try this. Disconnect the battery. Connect the two battery cables together to drain the capacitors in the system and clear any learned behavior. Reconnect the cables and see if anything has changed.

When starting the car, everything on the dash lights up, but then goes dim. It took getting a jump to get the car to start. I am not sure if it is the battery or the electrical system. Once I got the car home I turned the car off, and tried to restart it and it did the exact same thing. It took another jump to start the car. I don't know what it could be.

It could be a bad battery or just a corroded battery terminal. Check the terminals to make sure they are clean and tight. If they are, have the battery load tested at a parts store. They will do it for free.

Let me know what you find.

Parked Equinox was bumped from behind. No damage except a scratch, however the anti theft light is now on and the car won't start. I tried looking up information about a possible fuel shut off switch being triggered but found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated to avoid a tow to the dealership. Thanks

you need to make sure you are getting 12 volts power to the starter solenoid. If you are getting the voltage, then the starter is bad. If not, let me know.

Electrical problem
2005 Chevy Equinox All Wheel Drive 76500 miles

I saw a post recently with the same problem. I hadn't been driving my Equinox regularly for a couple weeks because I have received a company car. One day the Equinox would not start. I assumed it was the battery. It went to the garage and the problem was not the starter or the battery. $550 later they had found a broken wire. It started up and all seemed fine. One week later I took it on a 2 hr road trip. After sitting for a couple hours it again would not start. There is power to the radio and windows but it won't even turn over.

sounds like an issue with the security system. Have it scanned for codes at the dealer. It will probably need the passlock sensor.

The car does not start and all the power is working, sound like a starter issue, but this care is so strange can,t tell. I thought it was the altenator until the power came on. It will click once when ever I try to start, so it sounds like a silinod? is gone bad.

First, is the vehicle still under warranty (3 year / 36K). Second, here is what I need you to do. If the starter isn't working, have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for power to the smaller wire on the starter. You should be getting 12+ volts.

Let me know what you find.
