Asking for a friend. Manual Transmission pops out of 4th and 5th gear unless you hold it in. Loud pop was heard prior to this occurring, noise was described "like someone hit the car." Internet research shows other people who had this happen found a sheared mounting bolt on top of transmission. I have not verified this yet but the car is a short drive away. My question is this.... if the bolt is broken is it something I can repair myself or do I need to take it to a shop. Also, is this likely to solve the problem? Thanks is advance for your help.
