Noise upon start up, then shifting into reverse, then into drive

I have already had the blower motor checked - its fine. When I start the car a noise that sounds maybe like a selonid comes on in the area of the glove box, it stops, then if I go into reverse it happens again, stops and comes on again when i go into drive. Only upon start up, never happens while driving and comes on exactly 3 times ....any ideas? so many thanks
