Description of the fault codes are in the attached diagrams.

For P0299, check for leaking hoses, loose clamps etc for the pressure circuits, hoses bewteen turbo unit and intake manifold.

P0642 indicates a fault with the engine computer and it could also be the reason P0299 is being triggerred.

Check the wireharness for the engine computer and sensors and ensure they are clean and tight.

I noticed that just before the Check Engine Light came on I had filled up the tank to the brim...and then topped it off. (Good gas price!!!) Gas needle was past "full" mark. Is it possible that abnormal pressure in the fuel tank could have caused these codes to show up as the Turbo engaged?
After having spent enough fuel to lower the gas in the tank, I reset the DTC codes. After 30mi of driving with me pushing it to engage turbo, the DTCs have not come back.
Is this a plausible scenario?

It is possible and the real cause could be the EVAP system malfunctioning due to the excess pressure and that can trigger vacuum problems.

Monitor the situation and see if problem comes back.
