maint reqrd light

my maint reqrd lt came on right in the middle of a 500 mile road trip and i know it's not the oil. what else could it be and do i need to be worried?

What you need to do is have the computer scanned. Chances are it is nothing to worry about if the vehicle is still running good. If you take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store, most will scan it for free and reset the light.
