The thermostat that is called for in my 2006 Suzuki Forenza (station wagon) doesn't match the actual thermostat that's in the car. Did Suzuki use alternate parts? If so, what thermostat do I need to get? NAPA thought (by the design) the existing one is a model for a Cadillac or a Saturn. In the attached image, the thermostat on the left is supposed to be the replacement, the one on the right is what's in the car.

I know the thermostat is going bad on my 2007 suzuki forenza. it heats up to good temp until it opens and then it sticks and runs cold. at the dealer and orielly auto parts they want to sell you the entire housing with the thermostat, but at advance they sell just the plain old stant thermostat and claim it will fit. Is it possible to change only the thermostat? is there a possibility of damaging anything if you just replace the thermostat in the old housing? Thank you!

Thermostat need not be replace as an assembly, unlees the housing is bad.

If the thermostat rating and design is correct, there should be no problem just replacing the thermostat alone.
