There are two different locations depending on the engine size so I gave you both and a guide to help you see step by step how to do the job with diagrams for the location below.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Where do I find the thermostat on the 2.4L engine? I disconnected the upper radiator hose and it was not there. I read somewhere it's on the lower hose, but want to verify this before I go wasting any more time.

My information shows the above location for thermostat housing. If that is wrong, blame the database.

Okay, I am blaming the database then I suppose, because that does not look like a diagram of my engine at all. The upper radiator hose connects the to the front of my engine, not the top rear like it shows there. Are you sure that is for the four cylinder? Thanks for trying, but any other ideas?

That is what MOD showed for the 2.4. I will keep looking. There are three G6s listed for that year. The GPT thermostat housing is shown below. I cannot guarantee the database is correct. I thought MOD was one of the better ones.

That one looks more like it. If this diagram is right it is actually connected to the lower hose which will be difficult to reach without pulling the radiator. I hope it is wrong again though, haha.

For the 3.5L engine it is located at the end of the radiator outlet hose at the engine end of hose. Drain the coolant, remove the air cleaner outlet duct, loosen the radiator outlet hose clamp at the thermostat housing then remove radiator outlet hose from housing. Thermostat is in the housing.
