oil leak

I found that I had a leak around the oil filter on 2006 pontiac g6. Cleaned off oil around engine block and found leak coming from the connection between engine block and oil filter itself. Looks like I am going to take off elbow between the two and replace some sort of gasket or seal it where it makes connect at engine block. Not sure what that piece is called though researching now.

There is an oil filter adapter gasket that can leak which will cause the leak you are talking about but to be sure can you upload a picture of the leak and above the leak as well?
