did you use high pressure hose for this??? any other will fail from the high pressure



the noise is air in the system. turn the wheel full left, full right till it hits the stops and this will bleed the system.

it may take a while to go away

Did bleed left and right, been driving a year now, still makes the noise and vibration. Used Hi pressure hydrolic hose. I saw one post mentioning the pressure diaphragm in the line. If it exists, I would like to know for sure, before I replace with an OEM hose.

The pressure hose has a control orifice within the hose and if this is missing, groaning noise would occur when steering is turned.

If the hose is good, what symptoms would a bad pressure sensor switch have? Would I get a loud graoning/ shudder when turning sharp/quick?

Non OEM hoses would not have that orifice so it cannot be good.

Talked to the service guy at the dealer, says there is no orifice (didn't really sound like he knew what he was talking about though). Also called Edelmann, their prints don't show any type of restriction in their hose (#80648). That's why I was wondering if the noise could be from the pressure switch (mounted on the line). My understanding it is supposed to change the pump speed during turns?

The orifice is incorporated inside the hose and unless you dissect the hose, you are not going to find it. If you have the original hose, you would notice a clamped portion somewhere in between and that is where the orifice is located.

This is for regulating the fluid flow. When I fabricate hoses, I would remove this part from the OEM hose and install it inside the fabricated hose/

It can come from the pump itself, the pressure valve or even the reservoir. Any restriction in the delivery lines can result in insufficient fluid getting to the pump and this can result in noises.

Your info has been very enlightening, I appreciate it. Do you think NOT using Nissan PSF would cause the problem? If so, they must use a magical fluid that all the aftermarket makers are unaware of?

No, PSF are not the cause of noises. I don't use Nisan PSF and never has any noise problems.

Start engine and get someone to turn the steering while you put your hand on the hose and if you can feel the hose vibrating in sync with the groaning noise, that should be it.
