transmission down shifts unexpectedly

hi there, i have a nissan almera, that whilst driving the car suddenly and unexpectedly gears down and stay on that gear until i stop, switch of and then restart. only then the issue is resolved until it happens again where again i have to repaet the same it happens on a regula basis, what coould be done...
