My Mountaineer started out having a little rev up in the engine when running without pressing gas. Later that day after work took off as I got up road a little ways it died and would not start. It turns over really fast but want start I checked all fuses and relays. I checked for fire and I was getting no fire.

check crank and cam sensors then as well as connections also check fuses under hood. this may be a pcm problem or anti theft, try another key if you have one.

OK I pulled crank sensor when I did I noticed the back pulley on the crank case came apart and was rubbing the sensor and had almost cut it in half.

Now to figure how to fix this problem

this may be part of a timing chain issue or maybe a tensioner has broken

you are probably going to need to remove timing cover and check sensor ring at least to see any type of damage see pic
