when engine braking going downhill in second it jumps out of 2nd gear. the car is under warranty for 3 months however i wonder if it'd be a new gearbox job or if you could you adjust a cable or something

This can happen when the shift cable is in need of an adjustment or if they needs to be replaced because they got stretched. Here is how to swap the cables out for new ones which should fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Let us know what you find.
