How do you reset the anti theft system?

The best way to reset the system is to disconnect the battery for 1 hour and then reconnect it.

The back rear door lock wouldn't go down. I open it and pushed the safety lock. The alarm activated and wouldn’t stop. The harm was very loud.
I tried starting the car, key fab, starting the car and the alarm continued.
I finally disconnected the battery and removed the fused.

Recap: alarm was on, but I opened the back door because it wasn’t locked. Alarm went crazy.

Hi,

The alarm was activated when you opened the door and so it thought someone was breaking in.

If this doesn't work then we are going to have to get a scan tool that can tell us what is happening with the alarm or take it to a shop that can do that. Unfortunately, we don't have a way to know what is keeping the alarm on without a scan tool.

Alarm goes off on its own tried disabling with key in lock, tried remote key system, dissconnected battery for about 10 minutes.

DESCRIPTION
Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) consists of the following components: PATS module, THEFT
indicator light, PATS transceiver module, encoded ignition key, module communications network and
Data Link Connector (DLC).
PATS vehicle protection system is designed to prevent driveaway thefts. The system is passive in that it
does not require any activity from the user. System uses radio frequency identification technology to
verify proper key is being used to attempt to start the vehicle.
During each starting sequence, the PATS transceiver module reads the encoded ignition key
identification code and sends the data to the PATS module. If the key's identification code is
programmed into anti-theft system, vehicle is allowed to start. If key's identification code is incorrect or
missing, vehicle is prevented from starting.
PATS module communicates with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through module
communication network. PCM then determines if engine will be enabled to start. If the PCM prevents
vehicle from starting because of PATS system, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be stored in
memory.
A scan will tell you which part is loosing it...

The anti-theft light stays on and blinks when the engine is off and the vehicle is locked. It only goes off when the engine is running.

I think that is what it is suppose to do, did it just start doing this? If not, try locking the car with the windows up. Then. unlock the drivers door from the outside using the key.

I tried locking the car with the windows and unlocking it the door with the key as you advised. The light didn't go off until I started the engine. I believe you are right that it stays on until the coded key has started the engine. I've only had the car a few days so am still getting used to it.

Hi,
the following equipment stopped working on my 2000 Crown VIC.
- Keyless entry (key fob and door pad)
- Drivers window one touch down
- Power locks
- Trunk release

All fuses & relays are good (under hood and dash)

What should I check next?

Under the hood. Not fuse or relay, but circuit breaker.

It sounds like a Body Control Module or a alarm control module has failed. Do a pin to pin check using a wiring diagram with a voltmeter to check continuity of all circuits in that system.

After reading your email and some of the diagnostics, I believe it is your DDM (driver door module being faulty) with the alarm LED blinking. Most vehicle use BCM, but in your vehicle it is called a DDM instead. There is no need for re-programming of the new DDM.

TEST N: ALL DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE 1.Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using master window/power door lock control driver window one-touch down feature, roll window down. Lock and unlock power door locks using remote transmitter. Unlock driver door using keyless entry keypad. If any of these functions operate properly, go to step 6 . If none of the functions operated properly, go to next step. 2.Remove key from ignition. Disconnect Driver Door Module (DDM) 12-pin connector C518, 18-pin connector C519 and 4-pin connector C520. Reconnect DDM connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using master window/power door lock control driver window one-touch down feature, roll window down. Lock and unlock power door locks using remote transmitter. Unlock driver door using keyless entry keypad. If any of these functions operate properly, go to next step. If none of the functions operate, replace DDM. 3.Remove key from ignition. Disconnect Driver Door Module (DDM) 12-pin connector C518, 18-pin connector C519 and 4-pin connector C520. Re-tension or re-crimp all DDM connector terminals to fit tighter. Reconnect connectors. Access ground points at base of driver and passenger "A" pillar. Remove, clean and tighten grounds. Apply dielectric compound to ground point after tightened. Reconnect all DDM connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using master window/power door lock control driver window one-touch down feature, roll window down. Lock and unlock power door locks using remote transmitter. Unlock driver door using keyless entry keypad. If all of these functions operate properly, system is okay at this time. If some or all functions do not operate properly, replace DDM. 4.Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver master window/door lock control switch 20-pin connector C503. Measure voltage between ground and driver master window/door lock control switch connector C503 terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Yellow wire). See Fig. 8 .

If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Light Green/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 5.Connect driver master window/door lock control switch 20-pin connector. Discconnect DDM 18-pin connector C519. Measure voltage between ground and DDM 18-pin connector C519 terminal No. 2 (Pink/Light Green wire). See Fig. 1 .

If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Pink/Light Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 6.Measure voltage between ground and DDM 18-pin connector C519 terminal No. 10 (Pink/Yellow wire). See Fig. 1 .

If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Pink/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 7.Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver master window/door lock actuator connector. Measure resistance of Pink/Black wire between DDM 18-pin connector C519 terminal No. 8 and driver master window/door lock actuator connector. See Fig. 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace DDM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Pink/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . I can't post the entire wiring diagram here (too small to see) If you need a wiring diagram, please let me know. I will email it to you.

Initially, I didn't even think the DDM was the problem until my boss suggested looking into the BCM. Then, you know, the "thinking light bulb"turned on, and "gee, why didn't I think of that"...... So, here we are.

Anyway, your scanner won't do any good. The DDM only responds to New Generation Star (NGS), a Ford only scan tool.

i just bought my car from auction, and the code on the sticker in the trunk doesn't unlock the vehicle using keypad on the driver door. how do i get this keypad working or reset the code?

Hi Darrell,

If the key pad works to lock the doors then you know it is operating. See the attached detail on how to use the keyless lock feature. I believe you press the 7-8 and 9-0 button together. If it works then the only way to reset this code is to have the dealer reset it. Unfortunately, you need the original code in order to change it. You can add a second code if you don't like the factory code but again you need the original one in order to do that.

I would suggest looking behind the driver door panel as well to see if the code there is the same as the one in the trunk. It will be on the sticker under keyless code.

Remove the driver door panel and retrieve the code on the driver door module.

I just want to know, Is it normal for the lights on the unlock key pad on the outside of the door, to be lit when the car is turned off.

When I turn the engine off, the lights on the outside of the door, where you insert the key to unlock the door, stays lit up like all night. I just wanted to know if that is normal. Should the key insert lights stay on when the car is cut off?

It should cut off, it sounds like the alarm module is having a problem. Here is its location so you can get it replaced.
