grinding noise?

hard to say, but i would guess from the descrption that the brakes are gone or axle seal is leaking. If you clean it off, does it reappear?

Why does my engine make a grinding noise right at the end of shutting off engine?

Nature of the beast. To me it sounds like it's related to the really high compression in diesel engines. If you watch it, you'll see it shakes quite a bit when it is turned off.

when I drive it sounds like something is grinding. It just started and it sounds like its in the wheel since it scrubs fast when driving and slows down when I'm stopping. It sounds like a stick is lodged under the truck but it's not. Also, it looks like there was a lot of fluid that came out of the piece in front of the axle when looking at it from the front.

Have you had to add brake fluid reciently? Also, have you checked the front differential fluid?

Also, check to make sure the backing plate behind the brake rotors isn't rusted or bent and rubbing the rotor. Finally, if you have a fluid leak, we need to know what it is. Check it out and let me know what you find.

I have grinding sound from the rear wheel even in neutral when going down the hill? Dodge ram 1500 pick up, when in 4xD noise stops? Can anyone help
I have new rotors and brake pads

check Ujoints and center support bearing on driveshaft if you have one. also check wheel bearings.

it may be front whee,l the rear looks good,
it is making noise even in neutral going down the hill, but if I shift in 4 wheel
drive the noise is gone?

check wheel bearings and axle in front then it could be one of the ujoint there as well or abearing going out then when under load it quiets down

Make sure the brakes are good. Also, check for play in the hub bearings.

There is no noise when I brake..only when I turn right while driving.

My truck runs great, but when your going about 45 MPH down the road and give it a little gas it makes a noise like a starter engaging when the engine is running and goes away when you let off the gas or floor it. Anyone have any ideas?

That is an interesting one. Have you checked fluids in the differentials and the transfer case? I also need to know if you checked for play at the ends of the driveshaft where the yokes go into the differential and transfer case for play. Finally, does the sound go away if you are using 4wd?
