2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser overhrating

Check the coolant temp sensor. If it isn't sending the right signal to the PCM, the fans won't run.

When I turn the key to the run position engine not running all gears in the dash board re selected sometimes they disappear, the battery light stays on and the airbag light too, the security key red dot flashes however the car starts. Bit it goes to limp mode: (

Have you checked body and main grounds? Even the battery terminals... are they clean and tight?

yes i checked all that . i remove all grounds and clean them and performed voltage drop hot side and ground side. battery terminals are new and clean.

i took the car to a mechanic he told me that i need a transmission solenoid pack which was shorted. he replaced it but no help

That has nothing to do with this problem. Lets start from the beginning. Coolant in the engine heats up. A sensor (CTS) sends a signal to the PCM which monitors coolant temp. When the coolant reaches a predetermined temp, the PCM sends a signal to the fan relay, which inturn sends power to the fan to operate. Have you checked all these components?

the mechanic replaced the transmission solenoid pack because the car goes to limp in mode.the car has codes p0882 p0700 p01603 u0101 p0218 p0714
when i turn the key to the run position engine off the airbag light stays on the battery light stays on the security light flashes( red dot) and all gears are selected or they disappear at the dashboard when this happens and start the car she wont shift it stays in one gear. what i noticed too when i shift the car to reverse the back up light stays off. however when all the lights at the dashboard are off the car runs fine.

All of those codes are related to the transmission. Most of them indicate a low power signal, loss of communication... I really believe the problem isn't a sensor or solenoid, but rather a wiring problem between the computers. If I had the car, I would first start by checking the pins in the connectors to the trans control module and the PCM to make sure none are damaged or pushed in. If the all appeared good and there was no corrosion, the I would start tracing the wiring between the two computers to check for damage such as a partially broken wire... If they all were good and didn't produce too much resistance, then I would go directly to the computers and check power outputs to make sure they were within spec. It's not a simple job, but something is causing a loss of communication and the power supply to drop.

the mechanic changed his mind and did another diagnosis he said in his report the following
" pulled codes u0101 lost communication with pcm , p1603 pcm dual port ram communication failure,p0513 incorrect mobilized key, p0700 tcm trans related, p0882 tcm powe input low, p1684 battery was disconnected. cleared codes to recreate situation, p0882 and p1603 came back in minutes. performed flow charts on both codes. finding pcm is at fault.checked circuits on system. performed simulation on pcm signals to tipm and pcm. finding that the pcm is not sending signal to tipm. recommend replacing pcm and having it flashed."

so do you think the mechanic found the problem?
i did not replace the pcm yet and so far there is no codes stored in the pcm the car runs fine no dtcs everything is fine.the only difference before and now is the weather its cold outside so what yo think?

Based on your description, it sounds like that is the problem. If you are presently having no trouble, I would still suggest repairs. I'm not sure where you live, but if you are in a colder, snowy area, you don't want problems.

at this times the nights are 45 degrees and the morning are 60 .and the car runs fine for a week.so i think is a bad solder in the computer? what you think is bad in the computer?

It is possible. The only way to be sure is to check the output from the computer to the fan relay to see if there is a signal to turn the fan on. No signal = bad computer.

the problem is not the fan its the transmission wont shift it stays in limp in mode only when the weather is hot at this time the night are 40degrees and the car shifts normally
