I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LT Coupe and my front left side of car makes knocking sound as if something is lose when I go over rough roads, bumps, and potholes. What is causing this? Also, my car putters when in park and goes through a quarter tank of gas traveling at less than 20 miles and I just performed a tune up with spark plugs and wires. What could be causing this? I have over 83,000 miles on this car and bought it used.

Check that there is no oil stains on the suspension strut and when you bounce that corner it does not feel overly soft, this if so will be a faulty strut, also have the suspension on that side inspected for worn components, things like sway bar links, and ball joints and inner control arm bushes, as for the tune issue, did you get a compression test done, did you make sure that the plug gaps are correct, check for vacuum leaks and run a scan for any unresolved fault codes, start here.

I would start with replacing the tie rod end, in you pic the boot has split and grease is leaking, this may not be the noise you are hearing, but this needs replacing first.
