transmission thump

I hear a thump when my Cadillac CTS shifts from first to second (automatic). What could be causing this

Does it seem to be abnormal? Not knowing the severity of what your hearing, some 1-2 clunk noise was characteristic. You can check the front support bushing on the rear differential, it does split and can cause some extra clunk.
