This vehicle was serviced for 2 Front Wheel Bearings & 2 Front Struts, Original Struts were not purchased with sensor. A dash board message appears now of: Service Stability Track - Which is okay/livable. However now the vehicle will not go over 80mph, Dash Board Message: Speed Limited to 80mph - I've read the vehicle detects a problem in speed variable magnetic ride control. Can this be disabled to allow the vehicle to drive over 80mph? Please advise, Thank You.

That limiter would be embedded in the computers software so you would have to repair the problem to correct that. You will need to install the correct struts like the car came with.

Bottom line the Buick CXS Northstar has multiple sensors, The engine automatically reduces speed when a Suspension Issue is detected for driver safety. The Error Message displaying on the DIC is Limited Speed to XXXmph, which in most cases will be 80mph. The vehicle was NOT properly serviced in this case, I've unfortunately found out later than sooner. In the State of Ohio our highways/turnpikes are 70mph, A suggested passable speed of 80mph isn't unfeasible.

.As far as the limiter yes certain control systems should and do have safe guards in place.Lets take the throttle by wire on gm cars if the computer senses a failure in the system while driving reduced performance mode kicks in.Your just going to crawl at that point. Then next key cycle if the failure is still there the engine doesn't start.Better then the throttle goes all over the place or full throttle. I take the good and bad from people that I answer questions for. No matter how bad it gets I still keep coming back for more . Because people depend on me to help them out on here and in my life. I also like to help people I do a lot for my church and fix my pastors car for free because he doesn't have a lot of money and its the right thing to do.

Suspension problem
2006 Buick Lucerne 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 82000 miles

Top strut loose (both sides) from frame steering is noisy. Can hear a knock in the steering.
Can struts be tightened without a shop specialist. Front end alligned was about 5000 miles ago no wear on new tires.
Shop says it is not under warranty. I believe to have 5 year 100,000 mileage warranty.
Shop denies

If you have that long of a warranty, it only covers the powertrain. Struts are considered a wear item and not covered more than 3yr/36K.

As far as them being loose, the only thing you can check is under the hood on the strut towers to make sure they are tight. If they are, then chances are the strut plate is bad and that is what you hear.

Let me know if you have other questions.
