I need to change oil but having a hard time deciding which kind of to use. Which brand is recommended for high mileage, I don't plan on using synthetic because of the mileage. Castrol GTX, Pennzoil, Valvoline Maxlife, Mobil 1 etc?

I don't see any problem using any brand as long as the grade is correct and you do the oil change regularly when it is due. Personally I don't encourage synthetic oils unles engine is turbo charged.
