My car listed above has a unrepairable engine problem. I have acquired a 2007 Ford Fusion that also has a four cylinder, but has an automatic transmission that is unrepairable . Can I put my manual transmission in the 2007?

It would probably be much easier if you swapped the engines rather than the transmissions. That should be an almost direct bolt in if they are the 2.3 4 cylinder. However, changing the transmission requires replacing much of the front wiring harness, the PCM, BCM , then welding in the correct support for the clutch pedal and it's parts.

The 2007, except for the engine is in considerably better condition than my 2006. Any suggestion on where the "worth it" would be for the transmission swap?

Well you could look for a used auto for the 2007. There are a lot of them out there. Or have the one you have rebuilt, unless it has case damage.
Putting the stick in isn't an impossible thing, but you would be gutting both cars and swapping pretty much the entire wiring harness and dash along with all the rest. Then once you are done you need a dealer scan tool with a security code to rewrite the VIN into the new systems. Otherwise it cannot be inspected or legally driven.

Wish it was better news but they way they build them now makes it real hard to do swaps without practically building a car.
