how do I replace the power lock actuator on my s40 (drivers door)

I have removed the interior panel, only to discover a secondary panel which has the power window unit and a control unit mounted to it. This panel makes it impossible to access (or even see) the actuator. This panel is held in position by approx 8 bolts along its edges. Can I simply remove this panel, or do I need to remove the individual attachments and then this panel? Also, do I need to secure the window before removing anything?

I dont have the repair info for replacing the door lock actuator for that car.But heres what i would do remove that inner panel if you can do that without removing the other parts.Which you might be able to by unplugging them.If not then you will have to remove them seperately.As far as the widow goes i doubt the glass will come down when removing that panel.But be careful and have someone hold the glass up just incase.Let me know how it goes.

The glass dooes need to come out. This job is very complicated and strongly recommend taking it in to Volvo to have the repair done. The outer door handle needs to come off and then the aluminum plate (cassette) held down by the (9 bolts) 10mm bolts. There is a certain position that the cassette needs to come out in and the plastic breaks really easy if not carefull? After the repair the window would need to be recalibrated so that the auto up function works properly. If you are up for it I may need to fax you part of the instructions?

actually I am not sure I have do all that. My locks, both doors on driver side, stick. I think it is a grease problem., But can not get in there to see.
Any help would be appreciated.
