hi...my 2005 beetle revs to fast at idle it also runs a bit lumpy and seems to use to much petrol

Put a scantool on it and do a deep code scan-you want soft codes, since you make no mention of the check engine light. Once you've pulled the codes, come back and let me know what you find out.
