My 2005 automatic Toyota Corolla has 52,000 miles on it. The engine makes a loud noise the faster I go as if it the RPMs are too high and it's trying to shift, but it can't. Almost as if it's in third gear, but can't shift into fourth gear. Even though the car feels like it's straining at 55 - 65 mph, there's no decrease in performance. The gas mileage is still the same before the noise started and it's been almost six months since the noise started.
