I got a 2005 4 Runner that recently failed inspection due to a bad strut mount...after ordering the toyota factory replacement part, my mechanic noticed it has the X-REAS suspension, and being new to him and I think hearing the dangers of damaging the line, refused to touch it. I was told to contact Toyota Service Center and see if they can help me but im reading its an expensive fix bbecause if you replace one strut/shock, you must replace the entire system. I dont have a bad strut, just the mount. Ive been reading online that people have completely replaced suspension, eliminating X-REAS, but I dont think I should consider that. Also...there are posts online of people putting in a spacer lift without interupting the hydraulic lines (mine too already has the 1 1/2-2" lift) but work has to be in the wheel well due to X-REAS...I need to get my vehicle legal and on the road again...aby suggestions or thoughts on the matter are much appreciated...Thanks

contact the dealer and get an estimate. they can guide you on this repair. it is expensive but that is the way it goes with this type of suspension.
