Steering column smoke burning smell windshield washer

So does the water spray up on the windshield when you pull back on the washer lever?Does the smoke come from the switch itself?If so i would suspect the switch itself.

Yes, the fluid sprays up and washes the window. About 5 minutes later, a light whitish grey smoke comes from the steering column with a light burning smell.It seems like it comes from the top of the column. The windshield wipers seem to work fine. I will try in the morning if the rear washer is having problems but defiantly the front one is.

So the smoke is coming from switch itself 5 mins after you turn off the front washer?Will it do that if you use the rear washer?
