How much should a replacement dash wiring harness cost for this vehicle?

Rodents have chewed up the wires in the dash of the vehicle, causing problems between the engine and transmission -- a disconnect between the two because of broken wires. I received an estimate of over $1500 for the part(s) and labor. I was told it would take 4-5 hours of work, so I'm wondering how much of this total is for the part.

If all harnesses need replaced, I would estimate 400.00 in parts.

Thanks! I just called the shop and was told the part cost $882.98. Don't know if I really have any recourse, if that's not the true cost. Is the supplier overcharging or the repair shop?

Just to add to this one you said the dash wires were chewed would be the instrument panel harness then you said the wires to the engine and transmission which would be the powertrain harness.Thats are two different harnesses and they would be coming from the dealer they are pretty expensive so 882.98 for both harnesses sounds about right. When i used to replace saturn harnesses at the saturn dealer they wernt cheap.Just a single connector can run 20 to over 100.For replacing those two harnesses labor sounds about right as well.
