Cadalydic Converter Repair

I was told that I needed a fuel injector cleaning, a throttle body cleaning and a tune up BEFORE I can get my cadalydic converter replaced (which is completely covered by my warrantee!). My car is a 2005 Saturn Ion w/ 65K miles. I feel like they're trying to "get" me. The dealership that I'm working with says that If I don't get the recommended repairs before I take care of the converter, that my converter will fail again soon after it's replaced. Is this true?

They're out to get your money. The cat failed and they're on the hook for the darn thing. That is what the law was written for, to protect consumers and to compel the companies that make cars to be accoutable for certain failures. The failure of the cat is their responsibility, the maintanence is yours, are you willing to accept it? If so then I would consider what they suggest, have the tune up as a matter of preventive maintanence. Where you have that done is up to you. And it is within the realm of possibility that the cat will fail again if something is not done.
