No initial power on starting, but power returns after a few minutes. It then runs flat, at no more than 1600 revs, and check injection light goes on. Renault dealer checked diagnostics, but car will not communicate. EGR cleaned, fuel filter changed, turbo checked - by main dealer - deemed OK. Problem not identified because of failed diagnostics.

When you say there is no power when you first try to start it, do you mean the battery seems dead or it starts and the engine doesn't run properly?

Engine starts ok, but will only rev to about 1600rpm. After a while the turbo engages, and the car will be fine for a while. However, it regularly reverts to low revs and no power. The problem is intermittent, and the check injection warning does not always go on.

When the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify where the problem is coming from.

This has been done by the dealer, but the vehicle computers can not communicate with the diagnostics computer. The multiplex report shows that the vehicle computers are not being recognised.

There must be a problem between the PCM and the OBD2 port. Have they checked wiring? As far as the issue, it could be many things. The interesting thing is that the turbo isn't working at first and when it does work, the problem goes away. Have they run a diagnostics on the turbo?

Diagnostics can't connect to 5 of the onboard computers so they carried out a physical check of the turbo, which appeared ok. Re the wiring, they said that owing to the age/mileage, it would be uneconomical to complete a full check.

It would be uneconomical to complete a full check? What are they saying? Do they expect you to buy a new car? This vehicle isn't too old and it doesn't have many miles. I think it should be checked. Also,. if they can't connect to 5 of the onboard computers, there has to be a wiring issue near the port.

Sorry about the time delay.
Funnily enough they suggested PX on a scenic, as the time/cost dealing with the problem would be too much!
I've heard that the EGR regularly fails with the 2.2 diesel, could this be a major factor, or a throttle control issue more likely?
I've considered selling the vehicle, but would lose a lot of money on it if it doesn't run well on testing.
