i have an e25 nissan caravan and there is a water leak directly behind the ac compressor on the engine where i observed a small metal gasket protrudingin the area of the leak what is causing this and how do i fix it

Sorry - we don't have that model in our manuals, but it sounds like it is the head gasket you are talking about. Do you have oil in your antifreeze or antifreeze in your oil? Do you have white smoke from your exhaust? Without looking at it, it would be hard to say. A mechanic should be able to look and tell you if that is the head gasket.
