2005 Mitsubishi Galant a/c

I was driving and herd something leaking under hood, stopped and there had been dye put in from an earlier and the top of compressor had dye every where, close to a switch on top but also the bottom was wet. did not here any compressor noise before hand what do you think could be wrong and what can I do to fix.
