bad mechanic

if i feel the work was not done right, do i need to pay. I took it in, they said the head gasket needed to be repaired, when we got the car back that day it was making a loud knocking sound. now they are saying that i need a new engine block.

Take em to small claims court or the 3B's

Do not pay, they must make any repairs as per your original contract of sale, (did you sign the work order) they have no right to be charging for extra work no authorized by your self, as the last poster says, contact your local authority that deals with this typer of claim.
