camshaft position sensor

Recheck your work if all checked OK and still no start recheck for codes reinstall old sensor. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

rechecked work, rechecked codes now get P0343 (high Input) vehicle still won't start. Replaced sensor with old and same issue no start.

What you have for codes is an OBDII codes where KIA does not supply a detailed diagnose
i suggest a scanner if possible
codes you have its all indicate to a wiring issue
check connector plug and pins if pushed out
The SAE definitions are as follows:
P0342: Camshaft position sensor "A" circuit low, bank 1 or single sensor

PO343......Camshaft position sensor A, bank 1 - high input

DTC P0102, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR LOW/HIGH



Probable cause.......Wiring short to positive

I had this problem and found the wiring connector had a broken wire I had to get a new pigtail for it. FYI

I have code P0340 on my Van. The engine light is on 50%-70% of the time and the vehicle runs fine but has hesitated to start 3 time in the last couple weeks.

The definition that (2) error reads have the following:
1. Open or short circuit condition
2. Poor electrical connection
3. Faulty CMP sensor
4. Engine mechanical fault(highly doubt this with the way it has been running)

-Is this under warranty or am I better off trying to fix the issue myself.

-If no one knows if it's not under warranty, where is the camshaft position sensor located?

Please help, it's 3:00 pm Friday and I have an appointment at the dealer Saturday morning at 8:00 am!!

Hello and thanks for the donation! Your vehicle's Camshaft Position Sensor is located at the front of the engine (pictured below). You may want to contact your local dealer to inquire about the warranty information for this repair PRIOR to letting them do the work. The most likely cause for this trouble code is indeed a faulty camshaft position sensor.

Just to clarify, we have the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty...we called and the dealer said they would have to charge us for the consultation if the issue is not covered under warranty.

I got the dreaded CEL, and took it to the dealership who hooked it up and stated the code was for a bad Camshaft sensor. My question is how hard is this to replace? The dealership wants around $250 to do it and was wondering if this is something a non dealership reliable mechanic can replace? Also where on the engine is this sensor located?

Replacing the camshaft position sensor does require the removal of the timing cover to access. Which can be done easily with simple hand tools.
