2005 Kia Rio Oil leak

There are many seals and gaskets that prevents engine oil from leaking out.
Here are all the sources of an oil leak. Valve cover gasket, camshaft seals, engine oil pan gasket, crankshaft oil seal, rear main crankshaft oil leak, engine oil filter, engine oil pan drain plug and engine oil pressure sensor.

Make sure the engine oil filter is tight. Engine oil pressure sensor. This would leak when the engine is running.

Can you tell where on the engine it is leaking. For example, oil is streaming out on the passenger side by the radiator or at the very top of the engine on the passenger side and running all the way down the engine block.

Its coming from the middle not by the radiator but more from the front main seal I believe .

I'm not familiar with where the oil pumps are on this motors. But if the front crankshaft seal is completely gone this would leak oil only when running.
If this is the case then you would need to replace the seal. The seal itself is not very much money however the labor could be over an hour to replace.
You would need to remove the belts(s), right front wheel and crankshaft pulley to get to the seal. Installing the seal usually requires a special tool to install the seal correctly.

So it ended up being the seal, I had a mechanic friend replace it and now the car won't start when it started before we started. It cranks but won't turn over, what could be the cause of that?

I would check the crankshaft position sensor is plugged in. Without the crankshaft position sensor functioning the engine's computer doesn't know when to fire the spark plugs.
