That sounds really high to me too. I don't know where you are located, but I can't imagine it costing more than 300.00. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks for getting back to me! I just got the estimate back from the shop to see what they heck they were charging me for...here's the breakdown..could you help me understand what it is telling me I need?

Front Brake Service (75) - understandable
NB Brake Rotor Only (72x2=144)
ADO Disc Pad (104)
Rear Brake Service (85) - understandable
ADO Disc Pad (104)
NB Brake Rotor Only (50x2=100)

Total is 612

Is that telling me that they're also charging me for new rotors as well that is costing another 244? How necessary are those, would new brake pads get me by, or should I just replace everything at once and call it good? Also, is 104 too much for the brake pads aka are they selling me their top of the line ones, when all I need is an average set?

You can get brake pads for around 30 dollars yourself and rotors for around 40 dollars each. As far as rotor replacement, if the rotors are worn thin (which I doubt) or they are warped and causing a vibration when stopping then they need replaced. Other than that, as long as they are not cracked or damaged, they can be reused.

I would ask why the rotors need replaced. Then let me know what they say. As far as the price for pads, you can get a life time warranty on a set for around 20 to 30 dollars at a place like auto zone.

Just so you know, brakes are easy to replace. There are directions on our homepage under the diy section. Check it out. You may be able to do it yourself.
