camshaft position sensor located?

Replacing cam sensor, plug end is broken off, need to find order of wires from top to bottom, 3 wires, pink, black, black/white marks, the dealership said 1.ground 2.computer3.relay. which color wire fits each location?

The pink is the power source from the Engine Computer relay. One black wire goes to ground, and the other one is the signal wire that goes back to the Engine Computer. Unfortunately they don't show the connector views like in Chrysler and Ford manuals. Your best bet is to visit a salvage yard and look at the connector on one of their cars. You can even snip it off and splice it to your wiring harness, but don't use butt connectors or Scotch-Lok connectors. Those don't even try to seal out moisture. Solder the splices, then seal them with heat-shrink tubing with hot-melt glue inside. Never use electrical tape. That will unravel into a gooey mess on a hot day.

I can't even find a listing. How about splicing one in from a salvage yard? What's wrong with yours? Some auto parts stores sell replacement terminals. I use terminals from other sensor connectors and just solder them to the wires to make repairs.

Where is the camshaft sensor located and what are the steps in replaceing one

The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Disconnect the connector from the sensor.
Remove the bolt that retains the sensor.
Remove the sensor.
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Just one bolt and a wire harness

I have replaced the cam sensor twwice and have tested the wires at the cam sensor top 12v middle5v bottom ground changed computer and terminal ends at wiring harness to computer have also checked to make certain of connections at cam sensor what else could be causing this problem and also now is occasionally throwing a code for the maf sensor voltage low or high

Hyundai has a technical bulletin to reprogram the PCM for this problem. A trip to Hyundai for a reprogramming might be what you need, I will email the PDf to you.

I'm having the same problem. I had a code for the o2 sensor and the EGR valve. I cleaned out the carbon in the erg valve and made sure the diaphragm was working and replaced the o2 sensor. Then I got 3 codes p0340,[p0340pd(I don't know what this one is] and 102. I'm going the to try and replace the cam sensor tomorrow.

I did. I just was confused because I had called Hyundai's service department to set up and appointment after reading the replies and explained what was going on to my car and the told me they did they didn't reprogram that. So I give it another shot and I'll ask to speak with one of the mechanic's instead of the appointment desk this time. Thanks for the help

i was driving along and the engine light came on and the car shut off right away.. was analysed and said it was the crank sensor.. replaced that and the timing belt as well... still no fire... can the cam sensor be gone as well ?

Only when its cold car feels like the tranny is slipping then goes away dealer said its the camshaft sensor bad how can I do that?

The camshaft sensor is on top of the engine on the valve cover of the 4 cylinder engine and the six cylinder is in the diagrams (below)
