Holden Rodeo 2005, I've changed all fan belts but the squeal has come back after 1 month. Which pulley do you recommend would be the offending one to change?

Remove one belt at a time to see if that will isolate the noisy pulley, also new belts do streach, just check the adjustments first. Here is the belt diagram you requested

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

i have replaced all the belts but cannot seem to tension the alternator belt enough. is there a trick to it i'm missing? i can loosen the belt with the adjustable bolt at the top of it and the bottom pivot bolt, but not enough to tighten. they are v belts not serpentine.

Unfortunately we don't have a manual on your vehicle because it is not offered here in the USA, but this was a common issue when the V belt was more common. More then likely the belt that you have is just too long. It may be for your engine but there are times when they box the belt wrong or they just made them too long.

So I would remove the belt and stretch it out and measure it then get on that is a few millimeters shorter. Most hardware stores just sell them by length so they should have one that is close. If not, get the one that is the closest but shorter, if that makes sense.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

You will need to tighten the alternator slider and the idler pulley. Here is a guide and some diagrams to help you get the job done.

Please let us know what happens so it will help others.

Cheers, Ken

Take a look at the alternator mount. I believe it uses that as the tensioning point for the inner belt. For the AC and PS belts look under the thermostat housing for a tensioning bolt that is horizontal and moves the pump.

Run it a couple days, then re-tension until you get about 10-15 mm of movement when pushing on the longest section of belt between pulleys. Then run it some more and check it again, some belts will stretch a bit so they need to be checked, other will tighten up and stay there.

Got a squeel coming from engine bay, i think its either a loose fan belt or worn fan belt, however the fan belt tension doesnt seem to bad.I thought it could be a bearing (clutch) also because some times it will be squealing whilst accelerating and when i put the clutch in it stops making the noise but on other occasions it squeals even with the clutch in so not really sure,i dont have a workshop manual so i dont know what the tension should be on the fan belt.It makes the noise randomly and has been doing it more frequently over the last 2000kms.More prone to do it if it rains or has rained which leads me back to the fan belts but not 100% sure????

Hello - we don't have manuals for your vehicle. However, the best thing is to remove the belt and check all pulley's for free rotation or ANY signs/sounds of worn bearings.

Also, a tensioner can look fine but there is a tremendous amount of stress on them. Most are two bolts off/on and worth the change. Also, when was the last time you changed your belt? Belts stretch and it could be just stretched enough the tensioner can't keep enough on it.

Before sepertine belts normal play was less than to 1/2" press down pressure in the middle of the longest span. As you see by the pic, the arrows indicate where you would push and some have adjusting bolts to take up any slack as shown by the pic

The fan should be bolted on either with 3 or 4 bolts/nuts. You would have to loosen these to get the fan out. Normally the fan need not be removed for belt replacement. You maneuver the belts over it.

https://www.2carpros.com/diagrams/isuzu/rodeo/1995

What you need to do is to get the belts loose by releasing the adjusting points(adjusters) and tugging at the belt.
