2005 Ford Ranger coolant tempsensor housing unit

i thought that the small radiator hose had busted, looks like just below the coolant temp sensor next to the thermostat, but when i tried taking the hose off, part of the housing unit that holds the sensor came with it, the part that the hose clamps on. so i took the coolant sensor out and unscrewed the rest of the unit. had to go to a dealer to get the part, now my problem is the new piece is longer because it has the piece that broke off the old one, now i cannot just screw this one back on because it hits other parts can someone tell me how and what parts to take loose look like maybe its just a pulley
